Apply through extra or clearing?
I know southampton went into extra for economics (AAB)

I'm no expert in this area but I am aware that some of the better universities either prefer candidates with further mathematics (because the course is that way inclined) or attract a large proportion of applicants that offer it. You don't offer it and that may disadvantage you if you apply to such places after a gap year. You may end up where you are now, which might not be good use of a year.
