Has Google ruined Youtube?

What do you lot think?

I think so. its rubbish, adverts creeping in everywhere. Over bloated features that dont need to be there, why do I want to see who else is watching the video!?!?

It was good when it was simple.

What really annoyed me at first is how they changed the comment structure, so what were flowing conversations are backward, how ignorant. I know i can change it back but i cant be arsed to do it every time im reading them.

Just ranting tbh, but I want to see what people on here think?! :smile:

Agreed. I also dislike the censorship (like you're not allowed to upload anime episodes or whole movies) they've put on YouTube that didn't used to exist before. To be fair, I don't know if this was Google's idea or not, but it seems related.

Damn you beat me to it, i was just thinking the same thing. the site is soooo commericial (sp?) now. and everyone records what hey can and put it on there. Its silly how much 10 seconds and pointless videos you see on there. I used to be one You-tube a lot now once a month is a lot.

Adverts, what adverts? I guess I must block them all.

As for conversations, well, it's very badly done. Only two "levels" (the original comment one one level, and all replies to it and replies tor eplies in the second level) makes it very hard to follow a conversation.

I think that that is understandable for comabtting copyright breach etc.

Youtube still does what it was designed to do. There may be more flashyness and gumpf, but fundamentally I can still watch videos and thats what I want of it.

Ive not really noticed to be honest, but then I was never a big user of youtube anyway. I only ever use it to watch music videos really or things ive been linked to by friends.

They remove copyright stuff because they will be sued, and potentially go out of business (at least the site). It sucks at times, but it has to be done. Go buy your movies or tv shows! The entertainment industry isn't nor should be a socialist institution where EVERYONE should get to view for free.

For what I'm not liking is the ads that pop up in front of the video! I hate that!

Agreed. Ever since Youtube began to become hugely popular, IP owners have started protecting their copyrights by sending cease and desist orders to them, and fair play to them. Youtube isn't supposed to be a copyright infringment emporium. It's a place to upload videos you've made. Google have done nothing but improve Youtube, giving it a facelift and updating features on there.

AS a youtube director the change hasnt bothered me too much but then i was a director before google took it over and thankfully they didnt downgrade my account in any way

I notice now that sometimes youtube doesn't let you upload certain videos onto bebo - a message comes up in your videobox saying "video no longer available" but when you go directly through youtube it works ok

Yeah Im not for copyright infringment, thats not my point, what I am monaing about is how its becoming more and more bloated on the page theres tabs everywhere and things that just annoy me, just a thought and a moan tbh.

Also on large corporation like NBC/ BBC they have massive annoying adverts...
