I speak very little Spanish = Hablo poco espanol
I'm lost = Never learnt that phrase
How much is that = ?Cuanto es?
do u speak english = ?Hables ingles?

Where is the bank? = ?donde esta el banco, por favor?
Where is the tourist office? = ?donde esta la oficina de turisma?

Thank you = gracias
hello = hola
bye = adios

sandwich/snack = bocadillo
burger = hamburguesa
coffee = cafe

what else would you like to know?

yes, it depends where you are but in spanish you can pronounce both b and v as a b and you will be understood.

spanish pronunciation is pretty easy, on the whole you say words as you see them and pronunce every vowel.

there are only 5 vowel sounds-

a- like in bat
e- like in bed
i- like in petite
o- like in cot
u- like oo in "food"

ch is like "cheese"

ll (double L) is pronounced like a y

c before e and i is a "th" sound, as is z before a o and u.

ñ is pronunced like "ny", so España is "espanya".

H is silent, so "hotel" would be pronunced "otel".

qu is pronunced like "k", so que (what) is like "ke"
as a general rule, masculine words end in o and feminine ones in a.

im lost: "estoy perdido/perdida" (fem)

can you help me please? "por favor, puedes ayudarme?"

i am looking for... a clothes shop- "estoy buscando una tienda de ropa"

how much? as well as "cuanto es?" you can say "cuanto cuesta/cuanto vale?"

I have to- "tengo que"
eg "tengo que ir"- i have to go

You have to- "tienes que"

there are to words for to be, estar and ser, basically estar is temporary and used for locations and ser is for permanent, but its a bit complicated. but for example:

esta a la izquierda: its on the left
estoy cansado/cansada- i am tired
es muy grande: it is very big
soy bob- i am bob

me llamo bob- my name is bob

ir- to go
me voy- i am going

ahora- now
hoy- today
ayer- yesterday

que horas son? what time is it?

son las diez: it's ten o'clock
las diez y media- half past ten
y cuarto- quarter past
menos quarto- quarter to

mas o menos- more or less

la mañana- the morning
mañana- tomorrow
la tarde- the afternoon/evening
la noche- the night

i like- me gusta eg "me gusta mucho esta ciudad"- i like this city a lot

taxi- taxi
autobus- bus
estacion de tren: train station
tren- train
aeropuerto- airport
avion- plane
coche- car

hay- there is/are aqui- here
alli- there
izquierda- left
derecha- right
todo recto- straight on
esquina- corner
al lado de- next to
en frente de- in front of, opposite
calle- road
plaza- square

eg "hay un autobus para ir al aeropuerto?"- is there a bus that goes to the airport?

"hay un bar/cafe por aqui?" - is there a bar/cafe around here?

"si, sigue todo recto y esta a la izquierda, en la esquina, al lado del banco"- yes, go straight on and its on the left, on the corner, next to the bank.

what do you want? "que quieres?"

yes-si
no-no
"ok"- you can say "ok" or "vale" (ba-leh)

that concludes the spanish lesson for now, ask away if you want to know something else!

Well we got taught that you would say me-arm-o if you are male, and me-arm-ah if you are female, but they would understand what you were talking about whichever way you say it.
It's all to the with the masculine and feminine words. For example if you were talking about a male dog you would say perro, but if you were talking about a female dog you would say perra. Same for cat male=gato, female=gata. So it's the same when saying your name although its no big problem if you said it the feminine way, its really just whatever you can say easier. (Cos your not gonna get on the floor to check whether the dog is male or female fro example, lol) Hope that helps.
ok the whole 'llamo/llama' thing...

It comes from the verb 'llamar'/'llamarse' a reflexive verb (to call) and goes like this:

me llamo = I call (myself)
te llamas = you call
se llama = he/she/it calls
nos llamamos = we call
os llamáis = you call
ses llaman = they call

basically it means 'is called' e.g. se llama = he is called

llamo is not masculine and llama is not feminine.
llamo is the 1st person, referring to youself as 'I'
llama is the 3rd person, referring to he/she etc

However lynsey is correct about 'gato/gata'
For nouns (and adjectives) you choose o or a as the ending depending on whether it is a male/female person (or animal)
e.g. profesor = (male) teacher
profesora = female teacher

If you are referring to many female teachers you say 'profesoras'
for many male teachers = profesores

If you are referring to a mixed group of male and female teachers, you always use the male word, profesores.

Nouns have to agree with the adjective so a handsome male teacher = profesor guapo
pretty female teacher = profesora guapa
