Please help A Level Maths (OCR MEI B) Need a A*

Hi All,

I am in Year 13 and been predicted A by the school but with each passing day I am forgetting what I have learned.

Just came back from my last mock today and looks like i will get a B in my mock I was unable to perform well in the paper 2 and comprehension was not good .

Last few weeks were very upsetting for me due to rejections from the medical unis I have applied.

I will be extremely thankful if seniors/ mathematicians can share some good resources for overall OCR Mathematics and in particular for Statistics

I don't mind getting a private tuition either online or 1 to , if someone can recommend any one.

I have tried few tutors, before my mocks and in Year 12, but happy with them.

Any recommendations/ suggestions / techniques will be highly appreciated.

I need an A* to be back in the game.

Thanks in advance.
Please can someone help me

Thanks in advance.

Hiya, I recently sat my A levels in the summer of 2019 and achieved a B in OCR MEI maths, due to being only 9 marks from an A I have decided to resit my maths a level in my gap year to try and reach that A grade! - so I know exactly what you're going through, trying to remember everything is a struggle!!!

Websites that helped me have been physics and maths tutor - they have a huge bank of old ocr past questions which I have been working through.
https://www.physicsandmathstutor.com/maths-revision/

Also if you like watching videos, there is an amazing maths teacher who has created walkthrough videos for every point on the specification. Channel is TLMaths and I found his stats videos very helpful
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLg2tfDG3Ww4tezgS2dBXYfwwQ-XJkNgpM

I also found this free maths resource on edX created by imperial uni for a level maths - I have only just found it so I can't provide any feedback on how helpful it is, but it was free and it seems very good. I just created a free account and have selected the complete the course option -rather than trying to earn a certificate option
https://courses.edx.org/courses/course-v1:ImperialX+alm001+3T2018/course/
https://courses.edx.org/courses/course-v1:ImperialX+alm002+1T2019/course/
https://courses.edx.org/courses/course-v1:ImperialX+alm004+1T2020/course/
https://courses.edx.org/courses/course-v1:ImperialX+alm003+3T2019/course/

Other websites have been ExamSolutions for help on certain topics. Plus Desmos for graphing - I found it really helpful when I can 'see' the shape of the graph.

Also heck out cgp revision guides! They can be helpful to understand the basics and then you can practice the harder questions

Hiya!
First of all I’d like to say I’m sorry to hear about your rejections, I don’t understand why hospitals complain about a lack of doctors when universities seem to be handing out medicine rejections left right and centre. Anyway rant aside I’m in Y13 and will be doing maths A level and further maths AS this summer. Resources I’ve used which have been brilliant are
-https://www.physicsandmathstutor.com/maths-revision/
- https://alevelmathsrevision.com which does questions separated into topics, so stats revision should be easy to find
And examsolutions too https://www.examsolutions.net which does videos for each topic and you can work through the question first and then watch the solutions
Also might want to consider Integral https://integralmaths.org which is OCR specific but you need a login which I think you have to buy

Hope that helps and good luck with the rest of your offers and your exams!

I can recommend an online tutor pm me.
I planned to revise and finish these topics today as with each passing day I am running short of time.

Normal Distribution
Binomial Distribution
Hypotheseis Testing

and they are going above my head?

Why we need an alternative hypothesis?
When we need to reject and when we need to accept getting so confused?

Theres this website https://papers.xtremepape.rs/OCR/AS%20and%20A%20Level/Maths/3890-3892-7890-7892/

It's really good it has all the papers since I think 2002 to 2014 and the rest like 2015-2018 are on a website called maths made easy

@1secord hello there, im considering also redoing ocr meib a- level maths, wondering what your experience was like, did you achieve the A and also how did you actually resit this, im not sure if my school offers resits or would do to me given, like you i was fairly close to an A grade but got a B.
