Final questions

Hello everyone, I’m a current university of york student.

If anyone has any final questions before applying to York, please feel free to respond to this or message me directly!
Hey! Thanks for offering to help answer questions 🙂. (edit: lol obviously 'ask' was the opposite of what I meant)
I'm hoping to apply for York for a master's 2021 entry
1) I was wondering what the general York/York uni social and nightlife was like? If I get in I'll be moving from across the country away from all my family/friends/job so I'm obviously keen to know that the atmosphere is welcoming and there's actually stuff to do haha.
2) I'm guessing you're probably an undergrad (?)(apologies if not) so no worries if you're not too clued into the postgrads but do you know if master's students usually get involved in things like student societies etc?

Thanks in advance

No problem. I’m also doing a Master’s next year! What will your master’s be in?

1. It’s really good overall, good nightclubs and other activities to do for people who don’t like drinking and/or clubbing.

2. I’m a current third year student in three societies, mostly postgraduates don’t get involved too much but it is definitely possible.

Oh cool! I'm hoping to submit my application over my Xmas break but I'm currently still trying to pick between Public History, Cultural Heritage Management and Historic Buildings lol. What will yours be in?
1) Oh it's good to hear there's a mix. I'll be 26 by next autumn and whilst I love a good pub, I'm kinda over the clubbing every week philosophy as a mainstay of socialisation.
2) Yeah I assumed it wouldn't be too common (being slightly older and bigger workload etc ). I'm specifically interested in getting involved in the student radio as this was something I missed out on in my undergrad and regret it quite a bit.

I'm doing my MA in either Education or Social Research.

1. There's plenty to do for everyone!
2. The student radio is open to any York student! (although to my knowledge you have to pick one of a list of topics to talk about, I could be wrong on this though) So you can definitely get involved as a postgraduate.
