John Lewis.. and work in general

hi all, ermm well im a gap year-er and i have been trying to look for a job for months but nothing! but i do have an interview at john lewis coming up for a xmas temp but this is my first job interview so i was wondering if anyone knows what happens at the assesment interview thing? really want to get the job! and also does anyone know what the best way is to apply for jobs or look for them? is it all basically online? cant seem to find anything local, the john lewis is an hour and a bit away from me!
