Law career arrangement

It would be so kind if you could please help me to figure out the best way I can do.

I'm a licensed attorney and licensed real estate agent from Taiwan and plan to apply for registered foreign lawyer next year in UK. Since already getting LLB and MSA( accounting) degree, I’m considering to apply The Master of Arts in Law conversion. For career options, I plan to be qualified both as a conveyancer( level 4 then level 6) and an immigration adviser( level 1 to 3). Since I’m 48, taking SQE might be also an option latter.

So based on my situation, I’m wondering which one should I go first, the MA Law (Conversion) or the conveyancer course( level 4 then level 6)? And how about the OISC exam?

I’m not sure which way to arrange these three plans would be more efficient. Thanks a million for your time.

Hi Dancheng88,

This site gives you a lot of detail about becoming a conveyancer in the UK: https://www.prospects.ac.uk/job-profiles/licensed-conveyancer

Level 4 will mean you become a conveyancing technician who works alongside a full qualified lawyer. The SQE route will mean that you will become a solicitor (once you have completed all elements). There are many different SQE routes, some of which can be seen here: https://www.law.ac.uk/study/postgraduate/sqe/courses/ You will find the 'Find your route' quiz helpful on that page.

A useful map for legal careers can also be found here: https://www.lawcareers.net/Starting-Out/Beginners-Guide-Career-Law/Legal-Career-Paths

As you are considering immigration as well as conveyancing, you wish to take a general law approach (as in become a solicitor or barrister).

Hope that helps get you started.
