Msc Psychology Conversion International Student

Hello,I'm from India, currently working after my graduation in commerce. I have developed a lot of interest in psychology off lately and came across the conversion courses in UK as the best option for a change in career rather than a 3 years bachelor's degree again. There are lot of grey areas here for me and I'm looking for some suggestions. Can someone suggest a good uni for the course? I see that the Russell group unis are charging around £25000 which would be too expensive for me considering the living cost as well. How's Brunel / Stirling / Essex / Roehampton in terms of teaching and further employment? Please suggest any such other unis with lower costs. I've seen many posts relating to the conversion courses, but could not find any on the employment experiences after the course.I plan to return to India after working for 2 years there and gaining some experience for my further studies here. Anybody who has completed the course and been working ,could you please provide info on the job roles and pay scales offered immediately after the course?Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hi @Wishn!

Sounds like a really interesting path you want to go down!
Here at Reading, we are about to launch our brand new MSc Psychology Conversion course in 2023. The programme follows the structure of our successful BSc in Psychology, and includes optional specialist modules such as An Introduction to CBT, for those interested in Clinical Psychology.
But, what makes our course unique is our special seminars and enhanced teaching and assessment approaches are aimed specifically at graduates from other disciples, and we offer sessions designed specifically for conversion students that cover skills and information to enhance employability.

We offer an optional component so that you can tailor your degree according to whether you are interested in the fundamental science of the mind and brain or would prefer to pursue a career in a clinical psychology-related field. An optional Research Placement module is also available, giving you the opportunity to work in one of our world-class research laboratories. We even offer an opportunity to learn a language.

You can find out more about career paths upon completing the course here.

Visit our School of Psychology website for more information.

Hope this is helpful in some way, but whatever you choose, we wish you the best of luck in your endeavours!

Hey @hiya1510!

I hope the above response is helpful, and hopefully @Wishn will be able to give more insight into their decision process soon, but in the meantime, do let us know if you have any questions about Reading specifically!

Good luck with your decision-making.

Hello! I finished my MSc Psychology conversion course last year and might be able to help.

In terms of studying Psychology with a UK university the key thing is, the BSc / MSc is accredited with the British Psychological Association.

You can do a Psychology program 100% online with a BPS accredited University from the UK, called Arden University which has a high number of students from across the globe - many with English as an additional language. I studied the program 100% online (although there are blended learning options). For an unbiased view of any University check out their report with the QAA (a quality body) and their report from TEF known as the Teaching Excellence Framework - both readily available online.

Here is a link to the MSc conversion program - https://arden.ac.uk/our-courses/postgraduate/masters/msc-psychology-bps
