Driving test question

Hi guys,
Had a question about driving tests.

Is it true driving examiners are being way more lenient right now and for the foreseeable future in a bid to pass more people and clear the dvsa booking system backlog?

I got this info from my instructor who is a previous examiner and he said they are aiming to pass as many ppl as possible considering the current backlog is likely to be here till 2024 and failing ppl will only worsen it.

Thoughts??
“Way more” is an exaggeration. An examiner on TSR confirmed recently that they are being a little more lenient in some cases.
When I took my test there were "guaranteed fail" things (like clipping the kerb), but I assume a degree of flexibility exists for some of the lesser concerns

Whether there is a central policy / DVLA level view of leniency, I would doubt. But there may be some unspoken encouragement, eg local test offices may have targets that would encourage lenient behaviour in examiners
