reflective essay references
Hi! I have a question.
So I submitted a 4000 word reflective essay 3 days ago and used 20 references.
Is this a good amount or should I have used more?
Would the amount of references affect my overall results?

The number of references you have has no effect on your essay grade. As long as all the references are relevant it should be fine.

Hi!
In both my undergrad and postgrad reflective essays I found it difficult to gain references and my tutor always said this is common. Also, your grade shouldn't depend on the amount of references. In my opinion the amount of references you have put should be more than enough as long as you have referenced and cited appropriately. This is because reflective essays are based a lot on your own experience which you can't really reference.

This sounds like a good amount of references to use, as it is a reflective essay. So it relies more on your experiences of events, needing more critical thinking than needing to be backed up be references.
If it was a normal 4000 word essay then 30-40 references would be best, but you're fine for a reflective piece

In my uni, we are advised to have a minimum of 10 references for every 1000 words essay for BSc programmes. So you will working towards 40 for a 4000 words essay at my uni
