Aub illustration facilities opinions?

Anyone been to the open day and seen the facilities, or been a student of illustration, how are the facilities at AUB?

Unfortunately I am not able to go to the open day so I am relying on their website, but there's not much information or photos showing the facilities or where you would be working if you study illustration. I have looked at the 360 view of the print room and bindery and tbh they look quite small rooms? Are there only these 2 rooms? I know they also have access to the drawing studio, but would have liked to see pictures or know how the rooms are that students will work/have lectures in when they are not in the print room are etc., anyone can enlighten me?

Thanks!!

Thank you for sharing these! It was helpful to see and I looked through the Instagrams 😊

Further questions:
The only thing I noticed was that unlike some other illustration courses, there doesn't seem to be that students get their own separate work spaces? Can anyone enlighten me if this is because it is quite a team based course or because they don't have the space for it?

I know it is meant to be a good course so not trying to criticise it, I want to get a good idea of how it is 😊
anyone else?

Hi there, we're so glad to hear that you're interested in studying illustration with us!

We have a variety of resources for drawing, print and digital illustration: the print room and book bindery provides relief, screen, intaglio print facilities and we have an in-studio riso printing machine. We have state-of-the-art drawing studio, regular drawing classes in the first year and weekly evening life classes for illustrators.

We have MacBook Pro laptops and iPad Pros that can be borrowed, Cintiqs in the studio and Wacom drawing tablets too. The laptops are loaded with the Adobe Creative Suite, Toon Boom, and Blender and we have access to a render farm for high end digital work. We also have PCs with Unity for interactive and games-based work. All the iPads have Procreate. We teach all of these applications in years one and two.

Students also have access to the workshops, which have the usual wood, metal, and plastic production areas including a variety of laser-cutting and 3D printing processes. They also have access to central digital suites, which are booked for specialist software teaching.

The course is spread across four main teaching (base) rooms, with a central print, book bindery, and riso printing area on the ground floor. These are open/shared working spaces that allow students to work flexibly and collaboratively.

There are no individual workspaces, which means the studios are always active. Students are able to move from table-based workspaces to digital areas when they are transferring between analogue and digital workflows. and lecture theatres. We provide all studio-based materials.

Hope this helps, if you need any more info just get in touch and we'll be happy to answer any queries!

Best,
AUB
