What are the biggest differences between the universities you're applying to?

The Ucas deadline is just over a week away, and you're probably getting the final details added to your application, or some of your offers back if you've already applied.

When you look at your choices, what are the biggest differences between the universities you've picked?

Maybe you've picked a uni in Inverness and one in Cornwall, or maybe you applied for two different subjects at different unis. Maybe you applied a university who are a specialist in your subject, and a university who lets you do extra modules outside of your subject?

Let us know what the biggest differences between the universities you've applied to are!
I'd say the biggest difference between my choices is modules. Two choices (KCL and UCL) are very flexible and allow pretty much total leeway from second year, while others wait till third or even fourth year (for MSci) to do the same. The other big difference would be city vs campus unis

It's nice to have a mixture of different options to then feel free to pick the one that feels most right for you when the offer come in

Oooh do you have a preference of city over campus yet? I went for a campus uni and absolutely loved it!

That's why I applied for (and received offers from) a mix of city and campus unis  They both seem really good, and have their own benefits and drawbacks, so I'm reserving judgement until all five decisions come back in. I'll see where I stand then.

What course, and what extra modules?

Sounds like a very wise choice  Good luck, how many offers are you waiting on at the moment?

Hi there

I remember the biggest difference between my top two choices was that one uni was a campus uni in a smaller town and the other uni was a big city uni. I had always grown up in a town and felt some pressure to try new things and move to a big city. Ultimately I revisited both unis for my offer holder open day and realised that even though I liked the course in both places, I could only envision myself living in Kent rather than a big city. Kent was a comfortable environment and there was still lots to explore but without the loud busyness of a compact city. If you find yourself in a similar decision then I would really advise trusting your gut instinct on what feels right. It is important to remember that although you are studying in that place for 3/4 years, you are also living there so it is important to consider choosing a place that feels right. Best of luck to everyone waiting for offers and making decisions.

Best wishes

Thanks! I'm waiting on two more offers (Bath and UCL), though I'm not expecting the latter to reply till April.
tbh there aren't that many differences between mine at all haha, all the same course (variations of sociology and politics), all city unis except Lancaster, and all within about an hour or so of where I live - v excited tho, applied for accommodation at my top choice liverpool today!! :h:
