James had a bag containing 5 blue marbles and 15 green marbles and picked a marble at random from the bag. Then he picked another marble at random, without returning the first.
a) Given that he got one of each colour, what is the probability that his first marble was blue?
b) Given that he got one of each colour, what is the probability that his second marble was blue?
c) What do you notice about your answers? Would this be the case if a different number of the marbles were blue? Write a sentence to explain.

a and b) the keywords are "given that", so the 5 blue and 15 green are irrelevant.
You know that he picked 2 marbles from the start and that each of the marbles is of a differrent colour, you know James has one blue and one green.
The probability of the first one is blue will depend on the order of the 2 marbles James has picked.
c) If you understand parts a and b, you would be able to answer this part of the question. The alternative outcomes for 2 marbles are: 0 blues, and 2 blues.
