How does Birmingham allocate accommodation?

I haven't applied for accommodation yet as I got a late offer and then had a couple of weeks of being ill and freaking out about exams. Please could you let me know whether applying ASAP might improve my chances of getting the room I want? I'm not entirely sure from the website, and don't want to rush a decision if there's no benefit to doing so.
Unsure of if there's anything you can do to increase the chances of getting your first choice accom, but I would imagine applying as early as possible is wise.

All you have to do is create an account on their accommodation portal using the same email that you've used for UCAS - this can be found using the link below:

Application is very quick and instructions are self explanatory. Essentially, as long as you apply before the 30th of June you will be guaranteed a spot in halls. Around results day you will be invited to book a room which should secure everything - it seems as though the majority of people end up getting what they've applied for.

As always make sure to read into this thoroughly yourself - while I've already applied I could have messed up somewhere and not realised (although I hope I haven't lmao).

Hope this helped.
