The first curve’s equation would just be ax^2 and the question says y=x^2+bx+c where a, b and c are all non-zero values and this implies that the curve touches the y-axis at a non-zero value and that it does not just touch the x-axis at the origin.

The Discriminant b2-4ac=0 means that the graph would have an intersection on the x-axis which means in this question it could answer A or B. In the question, it says a,b,c are non zero, and A can only be the correct answer if c (where the graph intercepts the y axis) is zero, therefore it's B.
