Career/higher education route help

I’m really stressed out, right now im retaking my maths a level but i think im gonna fail and won’t get into a good uni- what are my options?

I got BBB last summer and have had numerous extenuating circumstances over the last 2 years due to bad mental health and recently ive been taking care of my dad who’s dying and it’s been another big thing on my mind recently he’s soon due for a heart transplant and his odds are low and it’s making things even worse for my mental health.

I was at uni for 3 months and dropped out in January bc I REALLY hated my course and the uni, so decided to retake a level maths and reapplied to unis on ucas. Thing is i dont think i will get the A i need and idk what to do with my life and I just feel like ive wasted so much time.

For further context i retook y12 in 2020 as when the pandemic hit i couldn’t handle it- so im already a year behind plus another year since i dropped out and i probably wont get into the uni i want so idk what to do after that? I just turned 20 and if i dint get into uni this year what should I do? i dont want to be 21 in first year as a mature student. And if I did apply to apprenticeships its too late to get one for this coming September that i like. Furthermore if i do an apprenticeship I want to do it at with a russell group uni but there are not many options.

I just need advice what i should do from now? Im studying for exams right now but i dont think i can get an A.

What are you looking to study? Which was the course you dropped out of and at which university?

I'm pretty sure for finance the qualification you get during apprenticeships will be very useful since you can progress to Level 6 or Level 7 qualifications over time, which will hold similar or more value than a russel group degree. Try looking at the government wesbite as some apprenticeship might still be open. I'm guessing most of the degree apprenticeships will be closed at the moment, but you can look for Level 3/4 and then progress over time.
Have you considered studying abroad? Many universities in Europe offer English taught programs in a vast majority of subjects - Poland has very cheap tuition fees, Norway has none at all! And if you have citizenship of an EU member state, many more offer free tuition.

I'm currently studying in Sweden at Lund (BSc Physical Geography) and got in with grades CCD. A "good" university isn't just limited to the UK, in fact I think universities back in England are on a downwards spiral in terms of standards, particularly since the pandemic.
I too tool a gap year after 2020. Don't worry about your age - I think it's much wiser to begin university after a bit of life experience, whether you've been productive or not during your gap year doesn't really matter as long as you have gained an idea of what you would and would not like to do in life. In Sweden, many take several years out after finishing the equivalent of 6th form (which that do aged 19). You'll come across people from all age groups at university so really don't let that be a concern to you.

Alternatively, you could join the armed forces for a few year and specialise say in Engineering or something - many MANY transferable skills to be gained...
