Complete University Guide Table 2024

The Complete University Guide has released their league table for 2024. The top 10 is:

1. University of Cambridge
2. University of Oxford
3. LSE
4. University of St Andrews
5. University of Bath
6. Imperial College London
7. Loughborough University
8. Durham University
9. UCL
10. Lancaster University

Whilst I think league tables are massively flawed, I also think people need to hold less weight to there own perceptions of what is a good or bad university.

Most people have their own top 10. Many people think that if a table agrees with them, then that table must be good. If not, then that table must be bad. However, this will create a problem in that most people won't accept that a university has subsequently improved or declined as they will only accept their own top 10, even if it is massively outdated.

The truth is nobody really knows what the best universities are. You havent studied every course at every university. There are way too many factors to consider what makes a top 10 university. It being in the Russell Group (a self selecting group based on research interests) doesn't determine whether a university is good.
