I'm entitled for about £7500 for maintenance loan, and I get £260 a month for disability. I'm planning to save £6K, would this be enough to live on when doing a 5year medicine course. My parents aren't going to support me financially, except for some expenses if I need. Such as if I'm struggling to pay for food ect
Depends where you're living, what your outgoing costs are etc. In London/Bristol/Cambridge/Oxford I think that could be a bit of a struggle, in a cheaper city probably fine.
You may want to point out to your parents that the way SFE is set up is that government expects (and assumes) that parents will provide the funding gap between the entitlement of the student and the maximum entitlement from SFE.
