Another Mum here, happy to help when I can if you have any unanswered or burning questions.
I would strongly urge you to have a good look through the links on the OP, as the university does provide a lot of useful information on their website, along with the websites of each subject’s respective department, and @Oxford Mums’s Oxford Demystified’ too.

My eldest daughter is at St Catz reading Physics, and youngest is planning to apply for Law with Spanish Law in this application round. We couldn’t make the open days last week, although we did go for a good look around last year, but plan to have a more targeted visit on the September open day. We did go to Leeds, Liverpool and Sheffield’s recent open days, and she really liked Leeds and Sheffield. We always love visiting Oxford, and youngest is often mistaken for being an existing Oxford student….

The application process is tough; eldest didn’t really think she had a chance of getting in, but was pleasantly surprised when she did. Only 2 from her state school’s cohort got offers and places.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained! She is very glad she applied, and has made lots of good friends at Oxford. It’s not for everyone, and the workload is tough and intense, but she doesn’t regret a moment and loves it there.

Any parents of 2024 applicants, you are warmly welcome to join us on the Oxford Parents Association thread.

Hello! Although i’ve also been active on the Cambridge thread I guess I’ll start off with answering.

* Subject applying for ~ History and French! (although I constantly feel a sense of non legitimacy in the French aspect and question if i should switch to English)
* College applying to ~ Whichever one best fits my disability needs, still looking into this.
* A-Levels/ Equiv taking ~ I’m an Australian student so I’m taking the ATAR curriculum. My subjects are Modern History, French Second Language, Literature, Visual Arts, Psychology and Maths Applications
* Predicted/ Achieved grades (A level/ eq)~ My state doesn’t do a formal predicted ATAR unfortunately, so I’m going to need to ask my school to do one. Hopefully it’s at least a 98.5!
* Achieved GCSE/ Equiv grades ~ Unfortunate story, I don’t have grades for Semester 2 of Year 9 to Semester 2 of Year 10. Another thing I’m worried is going to work against me..
* Why Oxford? ~ I’m still trying to figure out if I do want to apply to Oxford. If i do however it will be because the idea of being taught by experts in my favourite subject is extremely cool and I’ve always liked an academic challenge. Plus, 12 year old me discovered it was the oldest university in the UK and immediately fell in love with the idea of getting to see thousand year old architecture.
* State/Private/Grammar/Home ~ I’m not sure what this translates to in UK terminology but I go to a (religious) private school.

As is likely evident from my answers I’m not the most decisive person and have a lot of personal circumstances that don’t seem favor me, so I fear my odds are not great. Nonetheless, I can’t let myself not try!

* Additional qualifications (if any) - EPQ
* Predicted/ Achieved grades (A level/ eq)~ A*A*A*
* Achieved GCSE/ Equiv grades ~ 10 grade 9s

May I ask how was your daughter's experience studying physics at Oxford? I'm an offer holder (aka if my A Levels went well I'll be studying physics in Oxford too!) I love to hear about different people's perspectives. In particular, how is it like to be studying physics alongside many peers who are also physics nerds?

Subject applying for ~ Biochemistry
College applying to ~ New College probably, still debating with Exeter though.
A-Levels/ Equiv taking ~ Biology, Chemistry, History, French
Predicted/ Achieved grades (A level/ eq)~ A*A*A*A*
Achieved GCSE/ Equiv grades ~ 10 grade 9s, 2 grade 8s
Why Oxford? ~ I love the city and it has the more specific science courses that I prefer, I’d initially been looking at Cambridge Natsci but decided that just biochemistry at Oxford was the better fit.

No contest, Exeter is the best (elder son went there)

Hello!! [I feel valued when I was remembered haha, thank youuu] Think my old account was Tc_33
I deleted my old account so I won't procrastinate for my A Levels, now I'm back wasting time :P

By the way if you want to ask me questions, fyi I'm an international student who's never been to the UK, so my experiences may only hold for international students applying to Oxford physics :P I'm super excited though!

Hey everyone!

I'm an incoming second year at Oxford studying Geography.

At this point in applying, I was seeking every opportunity I could to be able to maximise my chances of applying successfully and this time two years ago found Oxbridge Plus which is a free mentoring and mock interview programme where current students are trained and provide free advice for prospective applicants.

I've not been asked to share this I'm genuinely doing it because it helped me so much and I hope that it can help just one other person.

They do a range of subjects but not all but definitely worth having a look

https://oxbridgeplus.webador.co.uk

Any questions on applying to Oxbridge I'll be keeping my eye on this thread too! I did the spreadsheets two years ago and I'm still an active TSR user so will make sure to help out where I can.

Thanks! Just wanted to say that as it might come over as an Ad which I think is against TSR regulations? Just wanted to share something helpful and hopefully it will be

I believe it means a spreadsheet comparing between different statistics of universities, in order to choose which university to go to.

In my case I applied to Oxford without much research prior hand so I can’t say the same XD

This is not what I mean. On the Oxford thread usually there’s a spreadsheet where people input when they have received interview decisions which helps others to know when to expect theirs

You did a great job with the spreadsheets Azby!

For those not familiar with all of this, you can take a look at the spreadsheets on the first post of the 2023 thread.

I unfortunately cannot open the apparently restricted spreadsheet?! :/
