Hi Scotney
Would you be kind enough to share again the link of the Oxford parents thread? I've been looking for it but can't find it. If all goes well with A levels my child will start later this year and I wanted to ask existing parents a question. Thank you
Not Scotney, but here's the link: https://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/showthread.php?t=5893218

Good luck for the summer exams!

That is very kind of you.
Just a thought @Y6Teacher, some departments do an admissions report each year, which includes information on admissions test results v interview invites v offers, plus details about number and demographic of applicants, etc, and might be worth you seeing if this is the case for the subject your daughter applied for. In my daughter’s case, she applied for Physics and they do produce a detailed admissions cycle report each year.
I appreciate this won’t specifically help in providing feedback for your daughter, and answer all your questions, but it might prove to be useful in some respects.
hey all! i took a gap year after receiving a 2023 offer for hispol in merton. curious if there's a community for offer holders? shoot me a dm if so. would love to connect! especially with any other merton hispolers

Thanks for that. I'll have a look- she applied for English lit and was interviewed by Pembroke. Still no feedback. Her friend was interviewed for Spanish - no feedback yet either.

To be fair, the daughter has moved on and is happy with her Durham offer (still waiting on Edinburgh and St Andrews).
Working in education, I think I am the one more annoyed now with the length it is taking for a simple bit of feedback!

congratulations to your daughter on her offer from Durham
( believe it is just as prized an English Lit. offer, anyway)

Glad to hear you have heard back and sorry that I was right about feedback taking forever. But it has been an eye-opener for me on different colleges approach to feedback so will carry that knowledge forward for next year.🧐
Upwards and onwards for your daughter as MedMama says.Durham and her other choices are all lovely unis.

Hey everyone,

I studied Russian and Spanish at Oxford (Christ Church College) and I set up a thread on The Student Room called Oxbridge applicants for modern languages - 2025 entry (applying in 2024) to help answer any queries people have about either applying for - or studying - Modern Languages at the University of Oxford. Please feel free to either message me or post on that thread if you have any questions about languages at Oxford!

All the best,
Ffion 🙂
Hiya, I am starting to get imposters syndrome about getting into Oxford, I keep getting hate because people say I shouldn't have got in with my ABB predicteds, I don't know how to feel. I got into Fine Art. I have achieved a D in EPQ and got 4 7s and the rest 5s at GCSE.

people say I shouldn't have got in

Isn't it amazing how thick AND rude some people are?
Ignore the haters, in the words of Taylor "they gonna hate"

Besides, just because you have an offer doesn't mean you're going there, you may not achieve the grades in the summer or you may choose to reject the offer anyway.

One things for certain you must have more knowledge in your little finger regarding fine art than all the haters put together.
The fact is you have been selected by probably the most respected tutors in the business of fine art, who saw enough in you offer you a coveted place, these are the only voices you should listen to, the ones with the confidence to back their judgement they can get you through this course with a good degree.
You can be proud of the fact you gave Oxford a shot and it paid off, this could be life changing for you, so keep the faith and I hope you enjoy every minute of it...well done.

Do you really think that your EPQ or your GCSE’s have much bearing on a fine arts degree? Your interview is the closest you will get to a fine arts tutorial at Oxford without actually being there, and you did so well that they have chosen you rather than someone else. So whilst it is normal to be nervous please don’t doubt that your offer is legitimate. You won your offer fair and square so just make sure that you make the grades and then enjoy what follows. You most definitely DO deserve it!!
Hi, law applicants & offer holders,
I made a form for us to enter all law decisions across universities this year (2023-2024)

Here's the link:https://forms.gle/BFRACrPsm4zE9KJh9
Link to responses: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1cAJyHUxO8UxjUn3e7uDVq2DMN1ZV8Rih5kNAmCtlZdo/edit?usp=sharing

Please do make the time to fill out the form to help those who are still waiting and those who will be applying next year.
Good luck with your upcoming exams!

and either of those unis are great

well… here after decisions to update: rejected from every single one of my reach schools (Harvard, Columbia, MIT, and Stanford) and waitlisted at Berkeley. Gonna pick somewhere to commit to (URochester, UC Irvine, Warwick or Bristol maybe) and keep hoping I get in off of the Berkeley waitlist. Kinda disappointed tbh but I’ll get through it. Also, has anyone received feedback from oriel? I submitted the form back in January but haven’t received anything.
