Super curriculars for personal statement

My sixth form co-ordinator suggested that I get in touch with academics of the subject I want to study (Anth and arch OR Sociology, still deciding) to get some insight onto topics I'm interested in and just to be able to say that I did it on my personal statement.
Any idea how I would do that? And on what platforms? I'm sort of going into panic mode because I have virtually no experiences to attest to my interests and passions.
You could try an online course! Look at websites like Futurelearn and Openlearn. These websites have courses in so many areas which are made by real life universities and accredited organisations like the EU. Or you could look up ‘books about (SUBJECT AREA)’ online and try and read a little bit.

If you’re desperate to actually have a conversation with an academic, then you’d need to find their email address and contact them. Ask them if they have any recommended reading or if they have any internships/opportunities going.
