Move from ODP course to dental nursing

Hi all.
I hope someone can give me some advice: I have been on an Odp program with placement in theatres. I just repeated my first year and have come to end of my this repeat year.
I like the course but I find that I have really struggled. Mainly due to problems with some communication and disability barriers . But I recognise this and working in improvements.
I am wanting to help patients and see their journey through their procedures with treatments as well as the science and technical side of procedures. I have always had a fascination with teeth and like this as a specialism.
So I was thinking of moving into dentistry nursing where I can work with the patients directly, understand and be compassionate and get to see and help with treatments.
I am just concerned as to how I explain the change from drive to one career to another? I have reflected on this and I don’t think I would be able to be an ODP as the trusts in my area tend to be either be in the anaesthetics, recovery or scrub and not a mix. Or if it was a mix then you couldn’t do this as frequently as I would hope. I thought about nursing in general but I am not drawn to it .
Any advice would be great.
Xx
