Best uni for studying?

Hi @Orla9099,

The 'best' university can vary depending on individual preferences, academic interests and specific criteria like location and accommodation. There are university league tables (link: https://www.thecompleteuniversityguide.co.uk/league-tables/rankings) which can provide a good place to start. They rank universities based on entry requirements, student satisfaction, research quality and graduate prospects. You can search by both university and course to see where it ranks against other UK unis. In the UK there are also a group of universities called the Russel Group which are seen to be very prestigious.

League tables are just a starting point as there may be other factors you want to consider like campus unis vs. city unis, sports facilities and industry placement opportunities. There are many different factors that make up the 'best' place to study and this may be different for every single person. Consider what is important to you and use resources like uni websites, league tables and open days to help you to decide what is best for you.

Engineering and medicine

Engineering and medicine

For medicine, all medical schools are equal. Just a manner of preference - would you want to do an intercalated year, different medical schools have different teaching styles. For example, ‘traditional’ or ‘integrated’. Traditional - you do all knowledge in 3 years, work experience 2. Integrated - knowledge and practical experience integrated together
For engineering, look at the course modules and decide on which one you like better.
This isnt something me, an online stranger, can help you with. Only you can look for engineering courses and decide on which one you want to do.

Just to follow this up and provide a bit of clarity @Orla9099

If you intend on practising medicine in the UK in the NHS - then BankaiGintoki is correct that all medical schools are treated equally. However if you end up applying to work abroad or in medicine related areas such as healthcare consulting, pharmaceutical industry, medtech etc. then the medical degrees are not treated equally. The medical schools that are prestigious are the ones you would expect. Given how competitive entry into medicine is you may not have a choice where you choose to go.

This actually depends on your preference and course but based on rankings university of Cambridge ranked first, only you can choose the best for you.
