Council tax for students

Hi, I currently live in a 4 bed student house from the end of 1st year now going into second year. One of my house mates has failed the 1st year and isn’t going to remain on the couse.

She is going to continue paying rent on our house but isn’t going to live here. Obviously we currently have a council tax exemption but if she does drop the course, will we all be expected to pay council tax? What’s the process, does she pay? Can we continue being exempt as 3 of us our students?

TIA. Any advice would be great
Your housemate who isn’t a student will be liable to pay council tax for the entire property minus the single person discount (25%)

Great thank you. I was abit confused at it said online is household based rather than individual based. I have sorted the exemption so would I inform the council or is my house maté responsible for this?
thank you for your answer
