How do in person university exams work?

How do they work, where are they sat, structures etc?
How do they work, where are they sat, structures etc?
a university student might sit in a lecture room to take an exam. the students might have to sit with an empty seat between two people. a teaching assistant might walk around the room to make sure students keep their eyes on their paper. the exam might last an hour or a few hours.
