IB mocks

what's the best time to usually start prepping for mocks? how much do they matter?
Depends which mock -- and how many your school has before your final. For me, my first mock was more of a practice and didn't study a lot. Wish I studied more though, it would've lightened my workload for the second one
I think I'll have to wait until after the IAs, probably...

Probably

@IBkidinthecorner what do you think?
It depends on the subject imo- something like French where the old syllabus is in a similar format with similar requirements then yes, go ahead, but be careful with the sciences and maths as some topics are no longer included and therefore you don’t need to understand. When I was preparing for maths, I went through the old syllabus papers and screened out the irrelevant questions before attempting them under adjusted timed conditions. Good luck!
