Can you leave UAS after one year?

Hi, I'm strongly considering applying to join a University Air Squadron while I'm at University for many reasons. However, I understand that being a member also comes with a considerable time commitment because of the weekly training nights and the many training camps/weekends throughout the year.

This commitment seems manageable in the first year as the workload for my course appears reasonable. However, the general consensus is that the second academic year is considerably more demanding. I've read somewhere that UAS asks for a two-year commitment, but if I find that UAS negatively impacts my grades because of the time commitment, can I leave after the first year?
