Marketing with year in industry

Hi all,
Is anyone here doing a degree in marketing with a placement in industry at Plymouth or Kent Uni?
I’ve got offers from both for the degree and will be going to their open days in a few months but just thought I’d get some feedback here before hand.
Any info about how you’re finding the teaching, uni atmosphere, accommodation and cost of living would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Hi there

I am a final year law student at Kent, although I do not study marketing, hopefully I can give you an insight on what Kent is like.

The atmosphere at Kent is really nice. I would say the campus is really lively and energetic during weekdays, other times it would be really peaceful and chill. The environment is really lovely. It is a good mix of urban and greenery designs. The facilities are really well kept and tidy. It is also really close to town (around 30 minutes walk or 10 minutes by bus).

If you are looking at University accommodations, there are quite a range of options available, it really depends on what you like: whether you prefer having a kitchen so you can socialise with your flatmates, having an en-suite so you can have your own space, there is surely something that will suit you. (In first year I lived in parkwood flats, the surroundings and accommodation was really great!) (Second year I lived in woolf college, which gave me ease of access to main campus and my lessons.)(This year I am living in Eliot college which comes with the catering packages- I find this really helps me save time on cooking and grocery shopping.) Since you are planning to attend the open days, I would really recommend checking out the different types of accommodations.

In terms of studying, there is a lot of support available at Kent. For my course, and I believe there would be something similar for marketing: students are paired with an academic advisor every year who can help you throughout your studies. Seminar leaders and lecturers at Kent are really friendly and approachable, this has really helped me to improve my grades over the past few years.

In general, Kent has a really good support system for studies, wellbeing, finances, or just getting settled in for University life. To support the costs of living, the Campus Pantry has been really helpful in offering extra help to students who need it. (you can find more information about this here:https://kentunion.co.uk/here-for-you/campus-pantry) My experience at Kent has been absolutely amazing, and I would really recommend the University to anyone who is interested in pursuing higher education. If there are any specific questions about Kent that you have, I will be happy to answer them.
