He was good at acting dumb, which helped him survive and not get too much attention.
I would argue him telling people that the traiter tried to kill him and failed beacuse he had a badge was a bit risky, because the traiters wouldn't do if they knew about that, and a lot of people knew harry had the badge.
So when all the people who didn't see harry had the badge died it should have become obvious that he was a traiter.

Also that ending with Molly ****es me off still it was so obvious I don't know why she did that, my guess is she fancied harry and was hoping he wasn't the traiter
