Bristol vs Manchester for BSc Biomedical Sciences

Hi everyone,

I am an international student doing A Levels in the UK. I hold offers for BSc Biomedical Sciences from Bristol, Manchester, Warwick and still waiting for a decision from Bath. I will probably make Warwick my insurance as it requires lower grades (AAB) than the other universities (which so far all require AAA), and I do not think that Bath is the right place for me regardless of the outcome of my application, so I am torn between the remaining Bristol and Manchester.

I have already been to both of the cities and the University of Manchester, but haven't been to the University of Bristol, so I cannot choose the university based on my gut feeling. I can find pros and cons in each of the cities, and I don't really have a favourite. When I tried to compare the degrees offered by the universities, they seemed pretty similar. The positions of these universities in the global and national rankings are controversial and do not make it any easier to make a decision.

I would greatly appreciate any information on the Biomedical Sciences degrees in both universities. Which degree do you think is better? What are the downsides of each of the universities and the cities? Which of the universities/degrees would make me more employable in my field in the UK/internationally?

Thank you 😊
Why don’t you feel like Bath is the right place for you?

It is a campus-based university and is not regarded very highly abroad. However, I know that it is good too. Do you know anything about Biomed in Bath?

Bath is a specialist STEM / Management Uni - however Biomed is likely to be 'bigger' at the Unis that have Medical Schools (ie. more money and facilities). Either Manchester or Bristol would be fine. Just be aware that Bristol is an expensive place to live and there is a shortage of affordable student accommodation.
