I need help - kings college London vs UCL

So basically I got into Kings for history and political economy which I really love because the course offers a study abroad to UCLA for the 2nd semester of 2nd year as well as their modules being absolutely brilliant. Kings is initially my first choice however I'm waiting on UCL for politics & international relations.

Do you think I'm absolutely stupid for wanting to pick Kings over UCL???

what benefits does ucl offer and is going to ucla really that important (in your opinion)
in terms of graduate prospects, unless you're going into finance/ib, there's not much difference at all. both have great global rep. imo go for the course that you prefer, I'd say go KCL.

Not a good idea tbh. E.g. world ranking has LSE super low compared to both King's and UCL bc it's a specialist uni. Course specific ranking might be better

what does that get you outside of imaginary clout from your partner's parents?
QS ranks King's > UCL in politics, THE ranks UCL > King's in social sciences…

as for data points on said options:
UCL = AAA/38IB avg offer 23% offer rate £27.7k avg starting salary
King's = AAA/35IB avg offer 84% offer rate £22.5k avg starting salary

[voting UCL, having attended and withdrawn from both (Bartlett & Poon Law)]

you withdrew from Bartlett and Poon Law?? can I hear your academic journey? why did you withdraw from both, and you did law and architectural stuff? interesting and why vote UCL if you withdrew from Bartlett lol

apart from being ranked higher in league tables ucl doesn't offer anything else. But it's not going to UCLA that is important, however having the opportunity to travel during my degree without having to convert to a 4 year degree is definitely appealing.

yeah, my academic journey is pre-med to chasing prestige [btwn law & business] back to med, enrolled and walked away from Cornell Johnson, UCL Bartlett, and King's Law in last few years (not something to be proud of).
voted UCL just bcs all data points seem to favor it btwn academic aptitude of classmates and what rewards you might reap coming out, all other things equal.
also, as I had a best friend who attended UCLA, its a nice campus near Beverly Hills, but 4months there is hardly worth such a big decision considering y'all can't just switch majors or transfer unis as flippantly as we Americans do…

wow, what a journey. what are you doing now lol

hi there, congrats on your offers! hard pick.. not stupid at all for wanting to attend Kings, super great uni. It's hard though to not let ranking sway your choice, UCL is super prestigious. I think it's more relevant considering the types of students you will be around, considering UCL is in that different bracket of competitive. Ultimately, you will likely be equally as successful either way, so either path will be great! Do you mind me asking what your offer was for kings? waiting to hear back myself for the same degree :smile:

I've actually ended up firming kings, I just love the degree way more than UCL's politics and international relations. I haven't met a lot of people that have applied for the course so great to know you've applied!! My offer was ABB
