Ok, a few things. I don't think prostitutes by definition have AIDS. Porn stars also don't by definition have fake tits (although you might be forgiven for thinking so). And I suppose you can call it a career.

Like in any profession, the high earning elite are loaded.

Your average street-corner hooker, however, is unlikely to earn anything significantly higher than someone in a graduate career.

But the modern meaning of the word has altered from the etymology so I'm not certain that the etymology is relevant. However, I did look it up and the Online Etymology Dictionary tells me that it means "description of prostitutes" ... so I'm not sure if you are agreeing or not with my implication?

They're both degrading but I'd say prostitution is more degrading.

Pornstars, depending on how well known they are are paid thousands to appear in films and they have big homes and are invited to celebrity parties and may even have the chance to go out with/marry a celebrity and they could be considered celebrities themselves.

Prostitutes are thought of as women who hang around on street corners waiting for pervy men to pull over, pick them up and then pay them to have sex with them for a while. They are ladies of the night and it is a seedy way to earn money. Escorts are probably considered more highly than prostitutes but that's because they'd be a part of an agency and so on but really escorts are just prostitutes for higher class men.

It's nto uninformed or heavily biased. I have nothing against prostitution or porn at all, in fact I think prostitution should be legalised. Hell, if I was pretty enough I'd do it!

But I've read a few magazine articles in the past about females who take part in porn doing it out of desperation or being coerced into it.

I doubt university professors or teachers make as much as porn stars.

You say you've "read a few articles" about some a very, very small sample of the porn industry and from that you generalize to the entire industry? Have you never heard of sensationalism? How many actors/actresses do you think the authors interviewed to find a few who are on drugs or in other ways forced to go into porn? And do you think the author would write about these or about all of those who love their job as a porn star?

If you doubt that university professors make as much as porn stars, you're very far off. The average professor makes way more than the average porn actress.

Don't accuse me of being uninformed when you yourself have no idea what you are talking about.
