Hit40Uk or radio 1 chart show?

Ok so I'm confused. SHout at me if it's obvious but what is the difference between hit40uk and the radio 1 chart show. Until now, i've always thought they were the same thing but they have different no.1's so they can't be. So which is the official and how are they measured?

Radio air play. Radio 1 does not include it, hit40uk does.

They both claim to be official.

Choose to listen to either one, I'd say....neither, as charts are now pretty much useless.

I'd go with Radio 1 being the better one though.

I would follow Radio 1, I think that's seen as the more "official" chart.

They are 9/10's the same anyway - if you switch between the two you often here the same songs in the same positions with hit 40 usually slightly behind.

Hit 40 uk - Lucio gets on with the chart and doesn't ramble on about every song that is played (unlike the annoying fearn cotton)

I'd go with Radio 1, at least you don't have to listen to adverts. Saying that I haven't listened to a chartshow since I was 12 so I have no idea what they are like now.
