Amadori reactions and glycation

Could someone tell me how Amadori reactions and products fit in with glycation? My notes arn't very clear on this and an internet search wasn't much use - the search results were too complicated for my limited mind

I know that glycation is the spontaneous, irreversible reaction between carbohydrates and certain amino acid side chains that results in excessive cross-linking and increased rigidity. However, where in this picture do Amadori reactions/products fit into this? Also, am I right in assuming that Amadori products are the result of the reactions?

Thanks!

No idea, but wiki is always a start http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advanced_glycation_endproduct

(probably not detailed enough though :frown: )
