Pain of Salvation. I've met one other person that knows about them. They are kind of like Porcupine Tree in terms of style generally, but they utilise a broad range of styles within the realm of modern Progressive Rock/Metal.

Ah, great band. I got so pissed off when Spotify removed them from their UK catalog.

Grouplove and Cloud Control

Saw Cloud Control when they supported the Drums a few weeks ago. Was very impressed by them, a lot heavier than I thought a band supporting the Drums should be though.

Same, where'd you see them? Best thing to come out of Australia ever! Had their album on repeat, Grouplove are kind of like them, trying to find more similar bands - any ideas?

Portsmouth, how about you? The other support band there were pretty good as well, can't remember who they were, but had a similar sound to I Want You (She's So Heavy) by the Beatles.

Best thing to come out of Australia will always be Nick Cave and the Bad Seed's. Nothing will ever overtake them.
Street Dogs, OFF!, Cerebral Ballzy, Citizen Fish, The Real McKenzies

The Ark, one of Sweden's most popular bands of the last decade. Never made it outside of Scandinavia and recently broke up:

snowmine are amazing, they've literally come out of no-where and released this album, one of my favourites of 2011. they have it free to download on their bandcamp! i bought the physical CD as well because the artwork is gorgeous.

I've never been much of a metal man, but I randomly came across this heavy metal version of a west country classic.

I've now listened to a couple of Albums, and I'm loving Alestorm.
