modern - has more facts, better proof and more has more interesting
Medieval is infinitely more interesting and requires greater research skills.

What about that HUGE chunk of history before Mediaeval times and after Mediaeval times but before the twentieth century.

Modern history is more relevant to today's politics and history is basicly learning politics on most courses unless you're studying medicine or something.

Haven't studied anything from the medieval period so gotta go with modern.

Modern... relates more to current affairs and stuff.

Medieval History is absolutely fascinating, and is actually a lot more relevant to current affairs than one might think. It's a lot less politics and more what I class as history - learning how people lived before us.

Aye, agreed.

It boils down to what you have interest in I guess. It's also nice to see whats happened in History before this century. Many people seem to think history is World War 2 and after. It really isn't. There are plenty of interesting things in medieval history, from Crusades to Black Death.

I reckon you should get a basic medieval history book and a basic modern one, and see how you like them. Whichever tickles your fancy more, go for.
