If they were very attractive and interested in me, but I'd try to convince them to stop, if only for their health, as I actually like the smell of 2nd hand smoke, don't know why.

I've never smoked, don't think I ever will and am put off by the smell of it.
But from my large group of friends at uni, a significant amount do smoke so I've gotten used to being around it whilst socialising (mainly in the outside area of clubs).

Though this doesn't help my discomfort when kissing or getting intimate with a smoker, because the smell in their breath and clothes puts me right off and I'd only consider doing more with them if the connection and attraction between us was very strong, otherwise it's a bit of a no-go for me. Fortunately the majority of guys I've pulled have been smoke-free, but I have nothing against the people that smoke, only the habit/smell.

I don't like it because I care for his health but he never smokes around me, I havent even asked him not to he just appriciates that I'm not fond of it
He is trying to give it up, not just for me but because he wants to as well, he does give in all the time but I'm glad hes honest lol
I don't mind the smell of it, but I hate when it sticks to my hair!! Thats why I don't smoke but I don't mind him smelling of it lol it's not too bad of a smell but it just clings too me too much even when someone smokes for 2 seconds beside me I stink really badly :s maybe its my shampoo... lol

I don't think it's even possible to have a general opinion about it. It just comes down to each individual and their tolerance level.

I'm a non-smoker and I would never date a smoker. I HATE the smell of cigarette smoke; it makes me feel sick. I just know I'd never be able to live around one with the smell always on their breath/clothes/house/etc. I also think it's a disgusting and unhealthy habit.

But that's just me. My tolerance level for smoking is very low because the smell actually makes me feel sick to my stomach. I can't handle it, so obviously I wouldn't want to be around it all day. But I certainly don't have a problem with other non-smoker choosing to date smokers. It's their choice and if they can handle it, that's fine for them.

iv given up now almost completely, only if im drinking and one of my friends is, and even then not always - i only started in the first place because of stress which is almost no longer a problem and im trying to be healthy too

All of my ex's have smoked and it seems every guy I like does as well....Not saying I have a 'thing' for smokers, but i've never ruled a guy out because of it, doesn't put me off, it's just a habit!

My boyfriend is a social smoker and it annoys me but I can't force him to stop. I just tell him that I really dislike it when he does it and I don't allow him to kiss me afterwards as I dont like the smell of cigarettes.

Im a smoker and i would date a smoker, my ex hated me smoking, for 2 years he bugged me to quit, but he never would compromise e.g. he wouldn't stop something in return id quit, but this never happened, was always one sided, so i just ended up going back to it. So in a way id prefer to date a smoker, smell bad or not.

I used to social smoke, and my ex hated it. Now I smoke full time, although I wouldn't have a problem dating a smoker for some reason I would prefer a non-smoker who would edge me on to kick the habit.

My bf smokes, and I've never smoked at all. It doesn't bother me in the sense that he doesn't smoke much (usually just when drinking with the lads etc, and he is cutting back looadsss) and usually outside so it doesn't smell on him. And he's careful not to smoke around me too much coz of the smell and passive-ness.

The only thing I don't like is that despite him not smoking that much, I still hate what it could be doing to his health. I don't like it hurting him or putting him at risk of things.

So, it doesn't put me off him at all...and upon first dating I knew he smoked, but the fact that I liked him made it not matter. The only thing I don't like his the health effects.

Yes I would and I have before. However I very much would prefer not to. I'm not so much disgusted by the act but more by the fact that people can become SO reliant on it for relief. Plus it's just not great in the long term as we all know.
