What is the point of wearing a hijab?

I completely respect the religion, just don't understand why it is worn.

Modesty can be an interior as well as exterior. Interior being through your actions and character and exterior the way you dress etc.

It is worn in Islam and other religion/faiths as it helps cover the head as well as the chest area. In the Qu'ran it is said to dress modestly, and the interpretation of this is to wear clothes that are loose/ wear a Hijab. As well as this women must wear the Hijab in order to pray or recite the Qu'ran.

Apparently it maintains a woman's modesty. Protects her from a male's preying eyes. Some also believe that it enables a Muslim woman to be 'identified'.

I'm not sure if the way many girls wear the hijab these days is any different to girls who don't wear it at all...

What about poo on your hair? Hijab is to prevent females from getting looks from guys and to protect their beauty and modesty. Imagine having a sweet thats uncovered and falls on the floor and another sweet thats in a wrapper that fell on the floor. Which one would you eat? Obviously the covered one. Hijab just isnt about putting a scarf on our head. It also requires dressing modestly and acting modestly because hijabis represent Islam.
