Applying to Imperial - MAT/PAT

Hello,

I am considering applying to Imperial to study Electrical Engineering or some variation of.

Can I ask, am I supposed to complete my UCAS application before I give the MAT/PAT.

And should I be taking PAT instead of MAT - afaik I can only give one of these exams.

Not really explicit on here:

I would think for an engineering course that PAT would be more appropriated although not sure :l

It would help if we knew where you were from and what qualifications you have or are studying for....

From Britain

Studying A Levels, potentially SAT etc.

Have: gcse/igcse/AS - phy/math/chem/fm

lol I vaguely came across the thread oxford pat 2016, and skimmed over the opening post. So you are right yes it does not specifically require either rather more so on the a level requirements.

Sorry to keep asking you, but do you know if it is feasible to just give PAT anyway in that regard to say to showcase my ability or something similar.

I have no idea, not being a member of the Imperial faculty. However, I suspect that if Imperial wanted applicants to offer the PAT or MAT they would request that rather than focus on A-level requirements. If in any doubt, ask directly.

PAT and MAT are for Oxford not Engineering at Imperial. And if you are applying to Oxford for Engineering Sciences you sit the PAT after you apply, but before they consider you for interview. You can specialise in EE via Engineering Sciences. Similarly you may also consider Engineering at Cambridge (they have a different pre-interview admissions assessment to PAT called EAA http://www.undergraduate.study.cam.ac.uk/files/publications/engaa_specification.pdf).

So, focus on meeting the entry requirements requested by the universities you are actually considering... :wink:
