write out ur quadrants so the value there is cos 240 does 240 lie within the cos quadrant no it doesnt so that means its negative then u work out the acute angle ie in this one its 60 so the exact value in this example would b ei think (-half)

If you draw the graph of cos(x) you will see that by symmetry cos (240) = - cos(60)
