don't know what to do with a biomedical science degree ???

Graduate entry medicine is really competitive...i'v already been rejected for this year.

Now, i'm looking for a patient related career that doesn't involve having Medicine as a background. This is going to sound so stupid, but i do not have another 4 years or the money to go for Medicine. I'm really struggling, i know. But i hope you see my situation.

I'm trying to look at all the options.

I just joined this website in order to get some help from all you good people.

I have graduated with a Biomedical Science degree at 2.1. However, i really want to do Medicine but i can't afford it.

I am really stuck as what to do from now on. I believe that whatever i choose to do now, i have to stick with it for the rest of my life.

Keeping in mind that i wanted to become a doctor, could you please inform me of any careers that i can do which are very much similar to Medicine - earning around £40,000 at start.

Or can i do a masters, where i maybe able to carry out similar duties to a doctor.

The bottom line is that i want to do hospital based work, working with patients etc. But NOT A NURSE.

I did biomed at Kings got high 2.1. Got ABC at ALEVEL. Applied for 2010 entry (which was when i graduated so in my third year) got 4 rejections. Went to work. Suprisingly biomed is a very sought after degree. I had interview for investment banks, private equity, recruitment consultancy, business analysts. But decided it would be more beneficial to gain some more work experience. So i got a paid Job working in the NHS at UCL hospital as a clinical coordinator/PA/Secretary. I reapplied this year and I start medicine in September.

Moral: Dont give up. Dont let any obstacle get in your way. Brush yourself off and try again.

Also. Try 5yr courses. I know in 2012 it'll be that more expensive but if it what you want to do, then take the financial risk. But you should be good enough to apply for 4yr.

And what you should also deem from my post is that Biomed can take you into many careers, as long as you are willing to explore the possibilites and possess the confidence to let it open doors for you.

I have looked at biomed science jobs and they are hard work and very little pay. also opportunities are very difficult to find without a masters or PHD.

I am really confused as to what to do. is there anyway i can still get into medicine? what are my best options now?

I have applied to Biomedical Science as well, but not sure what sort of careers I could do with this degree except researches and work in NHS? Is it hard to find a job with this degree?? Would u be able to work in areas such as cosmetic research and development?? Or it's more biochemistry??
Also would I be able to apply for other master degrees that is not related to science after I graduated?? For examples, MSc accounting or MSc Business?? (Cuz I saw from some of the universities website, they requires a first or 2:1 in accounting or related degree such as mathematics or business to do MSc accounting).
