Hi everyone, I'm currently reading Un Sac de Billes in French and I am just not understanding this sentence: "Ses chaussettes tire-bouchonnent toujours, papa l'appelle l'accordéoniste." 
From this I get: "His socks always corkscrew, papa calls him an accordeonist."
Is this just a context thing I'm missing, or have I got this totally wrong?

Something along the lines of "general interest channel"? It's essentially the opposite of Spartenprogramm - the difference between something akin to Channel 4 (programmes appealing to a wide audience) and Sky Arts (niche).

hello I was wondering if anyone could check over my German for me (in doing GCSE if that helps)
Meine Schule ist ein Internat, das in der Nähe vom Meer liegt, was in Sommer echt nützlich und toll ist, weil wir dort viel Sport treiben können. In meiner Schule gibt es auch ein kleines Sportzentrum, allerdings ist es nicht so, als ob wir ein richtiges Sportzentrum haben würden, das ein Squashcourt und eine Turnhalle bietet. Aber wenigstens haben wir eine Umkleideraum, auch wenn es schrecklich riecht und die Dusche nicht funktioniert.
Im letzten Schuljahr hatten wir einen jungen Deutschlehrer, der sympathisch aber leider unerfahren war, und folglich haben wir fast nicht bei ihm gelernt. Deswegen musste ich mir ziemlich viel selbst beibringen, um meiner Deutsch Prüfung zu bestehen. Glücklicherweise hat im September dieses Jahres einen neue Deutchlehrerin an unserer Schule zu Unterrichten begonnen, gerade noch rechtzeitig. Sie hat viel mehr Erfahrung als der andere Lehrer und je länger sie hier ist, desto selbstbewusster werden wir vor unser Deutsch. Das ist gut, meine ich, weil wenn ich älter bin, werde ich weiter Deutsch studieren, um einen Job als Übersetzerin zu bekommen.
Meiner Meinung darum meiner Schule ist gemischt und ich glaube, dass es beide Vorteile und Nachteile. Obwohl meistens die Schüler nett und höfflich sind, gibt es auch, in meiner und viele andere Schulen, manche diskriminieren, was ich gerne ändern würde. (Although most of the students are nice and helpful, there is also some discrimination, in my school and other schools, which I would like to change. Therefore I would also like, for there to be a School uniform in my school. Because…..) Deswegen möchte ich gerne auch, dass es in meiner Schule Schuluniform gibt. Denn wenn das passiert, denke ich, wird es weniger Diskriminierung zum Thema Schuluniform geben.

"Salgo con mis amigos al cine ver a las peliculas ..." = "Salgo con mis amigos al cine para ver una película".

Nothing, in as much as it's, strictly speaking, not really a German word, it's a German bloke's name mushed together with a German word
"Universum" means "universe", and, apparently, the "Bullyversum" is a theme park dedicated entirely to the German comedian Bully Herbig. Hence, Bullyversum. The Bullyverse.(I'm failing to think of any English comedians who might get the same treatment!

To me, "para ver una pelicula" sounds a bit stiff as what the sentence is trying to communicate is that he/she does it often rather than just once. To me it should be:

Hmm, I was interpreting it differently, but I see what you mean and you're right. Anyway "ver las peliculas" in that context sounds weird. It's not wrong, but we never say it, it would be "a ver películas".
