The Student Room Group

Means tested NHS bursary and room rental income

Hey all

I will be getting an NHS bursary for a degree course and have a spare room that I thought I might let for extra money but reading the info on student bursaries I would have to declare this and it would affect my bursary. Does anyone know how? I.e. Would it be like for like, any income from letting would be the amount I would lose in bursary money? It seems a bit odd as you can earn money from part-time work and that doesn't count...

Any insight appreciated!

Only the NHSBSA can tell you that. I don't think it works as an increase directly causing an equal bursary loss. You would indeed lose some bursary, as it's income that you wouldn't have had otherwise.
