Most people I know in my college had found C1 very easy as they are in the further maths group. I do maths single and in our college we do the applied module in jan and the c1 and c2 in may. Has anyone got this exam with answers on it?
100...

I'm afraid I think you got the answer wrong :/ Here's what I did:

Question: Express x^2 - 4x - 12 in the form (x - p)^2 - q, where p and q are positive integers.

Working Out:
x^2 - 4x - 12 = 0 (Equate equation to zero)
x^2 - 4x = 12 (Seperate the 'x' terms and the numbers)
(x - 2)^2 + 4 = 12 (Complete the square with the first part of the eq. (note that -2^2 will give positive 4))
(x - 2)^2 - 8 = 0 (Take away 12 from both parts of the eq.)

p = 2, q = 8

Hence, the answer gives p and q as positive integers.
Hope this helps  If you got any other questions, I will be happy to answer them for you!

It is meant to be

(x-2)^2-4-12
(x-2)^2-16

you've done it wrong

As it was translated

these would be the new cordinates

(-1,-14) - new cordinates

So in complete square form it would be like this

(x+1)^2-13-1

So this would be the equation

x^2+2x-13

This exam does not look any harder than any others.

Has any1 got this exam with the answers on?

Indeed he has. He's turned it into an equation when it was actually an expression.
Good luck with your results Im thinking Ive got <90% but I don't want to count my chickens.
I got 95

You put 93 and an unhappy face, 93 is hardly a bad result.. but I wouldn't really thumb down

Oh how silly of me, I forgot. On TSR you get judged and rated; based on which of the smilies you enter. Damn.
