MUN Hypothetical 2012/1 - Taiwanese missile tests

Saudi Arabia too condemns such early action by the DPRK but does have its forces on stand by to aid China, Japan and DPRK in the event that the Taiwanese government does not opt for a diplomatic solution.

Edit: No action shall be taken by Saudi Arabia until Taiwan responds. DPRK you do not have our support on any attacks today.

Japan thanks Saudi Arabia for its agreement that the actions are premature, and for its support in a worse-case scenario.

Japan understands the DPRK's concern, but does not wish to act until Taiwan have had a chance to respond. No source in Taiwan has even acknowledged the fact of your declaration of war, so Japan is left unsure whether they know what is happening. Though we condemn Taiwan's actions, we wish to give them more time.

We hope that China and the rest of the World Community agrees.

OOC: help us out guys. There's only 4 of us debating and they've declared war!

Kim Jong-Un has issued the order to begin mobilisation. By about 3pm the first Korean submarines will move to the Taiwanese borders, and 3 Tupolev Tu-143 drones will begin reconnaissance of Taiwanese military bases, missile silos, and command centres. We hope that Taiwan immediately stops its actions or else.

Important statement from Kim Jong-Um on live North Korean Television

A couple of days ago, the Republic of Taiwan began testing missiles in a bid to scare neighbouring countries and to assert - what it feels as - its dominance. Earlier today I gave Taiwan a warning: "cease all missile testing by 3pm today unless it wishes to be attacked by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, China, and (initially) Japan". Despite not having a United Nations representative at that time, it was still able to refrain from testing any more missiles. It has not. We withdrew our initial warning half an hour ago, and I have been discussing the topic with the head Generals and Admirals of the Korean People's Army Ground Forces, Navy, and Air Force. After half an hour of heated discussion, we have come to a conclusion that will have tremendous impact on not only the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, but on its neighbours as well. Taiwan has since not ceased from firing missiles, and we see this as an act of aggression towards our country, our people, and our ally, China. We have been patient, giving them days to stop, but still they do not. The conclusion is inevitable: Taiwan want war.

Despite being a peace-loving nation that has ignored previous acts of aggression from its neighbouring countries, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea will stand by no longer. We shall not ignore these despicable acts. I will, at 2:30pm, issue the order to the highest Generals in our Army, Navy, and Air Force, to begin mobilisation and prepare for war. At the present North Korean troops will not get involved, although we shall begin sending frigates, submarines, and bombers to the Taiwanese border unless Taiwan stop their actions. We expect Japan to support us as they initially stated, and we hope that China will also aid us.

OOC: Have fun

China thanks DPRK for its support here, we are glad to see that our allies understand what Taiwan is trying to accomplish here. However we ask DPRK not to engage any forces with their navy. We are glad that you begin preparing, but we would like to see what will response from Taiwan government first. We are glad to accept fleet you mentioned to help our East sea Fleet, and we will be glad to have our allies by our side. By this we are also warning Taiwan that if they do not cease their hostile activities, China will ask their allies to send their ships and to form taskforce here (prefferably under our command) to stop this hostilities from occuring.

Furthermore, in light of Argentina sending their ships and escalating situation, we are ordering our army on standby. We do not want to escalate situation, but we need more people following the radars. We will defend our waters, airspace, and land; and no force, except those allowed, will be in our waters. And any force that enterour waters will be attacked. Also China is ordering our air-force to start reconosance missions above Taiwan to see places where these rockets are stored and where they are tested.
Japan is glad to see that China is of the same opinion as our own, and supports their reconnaissance missions.

Alongside Japan, both Saudi Arabia and China, the main party, are against such hasty plans. Japan calls for an immediate halt on your mission for the time in being.

China is also grateful for Japan on helping us, and beliving in us. We hope that we can count on Japan helping us withnthese reconosance missions, and in turn help us if needed.

Both Argentina and Tanzania strongly condemn the actions of the DKPR and urge China to refrain.

Argentina and Tanzania wish a peaceful solution which is why were were mealy planning to observe from a distance and allow China and Taiwan to discuss the situation however the actions of the DKPR have crossed a line and for the second time in a year (since the invasion of South Korea) Argentina has expelled all North Korean diplomats and is prepared to neutralize them as a threat.

Kim Jong-Un has agreed to cease the movement of North Korean ships to Taiwanese borders, but will continue the mobilisation, arming, and preparation for war. The 3 Tupolev Tu-143 drones will still continue to scout the area for Taiwanese military installations, bases, missile silos, naval bases, and command centres/outposts. The Democratic People's Republic of Korea will also send 2 frigates for Chinese usage (although they must be returned after the war has finished). Should any other country enter Chinese, North Korean, or Taiwanese borders (to defend the island), we shall use lethal force to destroy any threats, regardless of the country (unless they're allies with us or China). If Taiwan do refuse to co-operate, there is no other option but war. Let this be a warning to all of the nations on Earth: We will not forgive any war-mongerers.

China can rely on Japan's support during the missions. Our military leaders are meeting on the matter currently, but the moment you request I feel confident in saying we will provide.

China hopes that Argentina wonnt take advantage of the situation to broaden the conflict on naigbouring nations, such we are saying to them that they should not tallk about neutralizing DPRK. We would like to see more restraint from the Argenitna side, restraint that they are speking for so loudly.

We see this as an act of war and expel all of the Argentinian diplomats from North Korea as well. Please see my latest update to see where we currently stand.

Saudi Arabia is glad that DPRK has saw sense and supports its current position.

Saudi Arabia looks forward to working alongside China, DPRK and Japan if military action is required in future and if any aid is needed in reconnaissance missions Saudi Arabia will be glad to assist.

Japan supports the DPKR's current position on Taiwan, and are also willing to fight alongside China, DPKR and Saudi Arabia, and help where needed.

[ooc] If people could hold off from blowing each other up until I've appointed a representative of the Taiwanese government I'd appreciate it. Thanks.[/ooc]

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea would like Saudi Arabia to help supply oil (free of charge) to our great country if we do go to war, as well as helping us and our reconnaissance missions currently underway.

So we shall continue reconnaissance missions with our drones, and continue to prepare for war, although we will wait for Taiwan to respond tonight (preferably straight after being appointed as the rep).

Tanzania forbids such an action and will blockade the supply of oil to you should it be required.
OOC going away for a bit. What are the chances that when I come back Taiwan will have sunk thanks to continued bombardment?

Besides that, I can't wait for other members to see what Japan, DPKR and Saudi Arabia (among a few others) have done in the last few hours...

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea sees this as a worthless bluff; should Tanzania do so, this will become a serious matter.
