Just a quick note.
I'm extremely shocked that people on here are planning to do over 3 hours revision. I planned to do 3 hours per day, but even that is just too much for me. So I'm sticking to just 2 hours because I think that is more practical for me. I honestly have no idea how people are managing to do more than 3 hours revision and how people wake up early just to do that revision. I have motivation, don't get me wrong. But, during school time I work hard. So I always think during the holidays I need time to relax, because I deserve it... I'm not one of them people who remembers things easily, but I cannot manage more than 2 hours.

I have 15 exams in late May/June and am currently doing multiple 45 minute revision sessions daily. I aim to do around 5-6 sessions, but that'll probably go higher as the exams get closer :shot:

Good luck!

Not enough :frown:

I'm starting tomorrow, and I'll be doing 2 hours a day. So far I've just been doing odd bits when I have nothing to do, and I need to start doing more, which I will :awesome:

Same. I simply can't manage more than 2 hours...

Is this working for you? And how do you manage it?

Yes, sometimes I do 3 hours if I'm tired.

I'd say dont go to bed late, you wont be able to concentrate very well. Secondly, space it out. For example, 1 hour from 9-10 am, 2nd hour at 1-2 pm and 3rd at 3-4 pm etc...
Fourth, if you find your self procrastinating, just stop for a couple of hours (or the whole day) and relax.
Make a timetable of the subjects you want do and when. Wake up early, nothing worse than revising most of your day away, it wont be effective.

Yes, it works great for me. I used to revise for 7+ hours a day but it would burn me out, make me tired and make me not want to revise again. Doing 4 hours means everything stays quite fresh in my mind and I actually understand what I'm doing instead of just accepting it out of boredom.

I tend to take 10 minute breaks after I've finished one topic & I do this for two hours then I take a long 1 hour break completely to eat or something. After that break, I'll do the same method again for two hours. This way means I finish all of the day's revision of by 3pm. I'll then take a 4 hour break and 7pm+ is coursework time! Any other q's just quote me,

I get what you're saying. However, it's the holidays... Don't you think you deserve time to relax and wake up late?

I can, but only if a) I'm desperate, or b) My exams are a couple of days away.

A whole day of games and then a whole day of "check of the week"? Seems like a waste of time. You actually did very little revision (albeit more than I do at the moment, but I'm starting lots of revision again tomorrow onwards)

I suppose so, but if you work hard, then you can go out with friends and socialise without a guilty conscience.

It's not too demanding, just space it out. I'd rather have good GCSEs and go to a good Uni than just sit around bored :dontknow:

This would mean you wake up early (I assume), how do you manage that? It is the holidays after all.

To me is it rather demanding, lol. The thing is, you might go to a good University... But it all depends on your job?

And the thing with me... I don't get bored.
I don't time my revision, I judge it by topics/content.

For example, my geography exam has 3 main topics: restless earth, living world and water on the land.
Over the past couple of days I have gone through the the first 2 easily, and know the case studies by heart.
I find timing myself puts me under pressure, so I just stop when I feel like I've done enough for a subject.
Wel.... I'm meant to be doing around 3 hrs... but TSR is addictive!!

I did my GCSE's last year and during Easter I probably revised for about 4 hours each day. I covered the content for English and the Sciences, but honestly, whether you revise or not, you're probably going to end up cramming in the content in the few days before the exam anyway. Use this time to relax a little bit - doing 8 hours a day during Easter for GCSEs is way too much. I think it's much better to make sure you don't burn out at this point, and save it for the few weeks in the run up to exams.

Yes, I wake up at 8am and do what I want until 10 when revision begins. I was already in a good sleeping routine due to waking up for school at 7:30am so I just stuck to it and slept around 11pm as usual. I'd love to be able to relax but I slacked off last Easter doing barely any revision and solely focusing on the coursework of one subject instead which didn't even help me at all. This time I wanted to actually do revision instead of tons of coursework. Oh and I'm a HUGE worrier about my exams, getting into trouble about coursework deadlines etc, so I get really stressed and panicky if I don't study which helps with the whole motivation aspect of revision because I usually get it all done.

I know you think 4 hours is a large amount of time to revise and I felt the same way. If you wanted you could just divide the time all throughout the day like an hour morning, afternoon, evening and night so it doesn't seem much. After a while, you'll get so used to it, you won't even feel tired and wonder if you're doing too little! < That was my experience any way. Hope this helps,

Well a good University, means a good job.

I care more about the University than job, so I can meet like-minded people. Hopefully my degree can get me a good job at somewhere like Rolls Royce or Boeing.

What grades are you set to get? Good luck in your studies

A*s apart from English and French which are B. 12 is seriously overkill dude, you need to get the maximum out of your revision, you will be mentally fatigued with that. Some days I may do 5 hours. For example, I did an hour of Geography revision today and did about 1 third of the course (not doing past papers), why'd you'd need 12 hours I dont know.

I'd say 5 hours of revision is the most if you're content on revising lots. By the 3 hour mark your brain wont be at maximum capacity, never mind 12...

im in a level (but i liked the thread name :P ) and i do 8, 2 hours at a time taking an hour break in beetween each two hour session:smile:
