The Student Room Group

I want to drop out of Uni

This is going to sound rushed, however as soon as I moved in to my campus accomodation I instantly felt that this university was not the place I wanted to be.. I am signed to do a BA History degree, and have always felt that University was a natural step from college..
I feel sick at the idea of being here for three years, even with the idea of making new friends and settling in, but I just know that if I bring it up with support services or my parents, they will just say that I haven't given uni a chance.

My friend got great a level results and instead of going to uni began a trainee manager course at a well known supermarket, an idea that appeals to me at this moment in time.

I have been worried sick and nervous all day and wish that I had more time to consider my options but right now I dont want to leave my room. Is there anyone who can help me???

When I first got my student ID and saw the expiry date as July 2014 I immediately wondered if I'd made the right choice..

Give it a few weeks, I realised it was right for me as soon as freshers really kicked off.
It's perfectly normal to feel this way, plenty of people are daunted at the prospect of meeting and living with new people, but once you get settled into your actual lectures your opinion is likely to change. Fresher's Week is designed to help you settle in, so try to get involved as much as you can.

Listen to Mockery, give it a few weeks, settle in and get a good feel about the university and course, before rushing such a decision.

Give it a term and see how you feel. Ultimately you could have a much more interesting job than manager at a supermarket as a result. It's a massive barrage of changes when you actually move in - independence, forced socialising, getting used to university ways etc. - and you'll probably feel differently after you've settled into it all.
