Is clearing as bad as some people make out or not?

No it is not as bad as it can be made out. It can be stressful,especially on results day itself. But many people get places on courses through clearing :redface:

Preparing in advance should make it easier. Research all the possible universities in which you might be interested - their likely offers, the actual course, whether you might get accommodation etc.
