We were told at interview that the MSc adult nursing and MSc mental health nursing would share some classes then split for the classes more specialised classes in each area.

I feel the Same Katie, the thought of A&E terrifies me lol. I can imagine things being hectic and ill freeze and just stand there hopeless, I'm used to quiet labs, not chaos and life/death situations :-)

my first degree is Medical science : infection biology

I was told at my interview about the timetable for Adult Nursing and was told that we usually get a day to reflect and use to read, study, but apart from that it's 4 days a week of theory, 6-7 hours a day so intensive.

Mine is in social policy and criminology, so I think this summer will be spent on developing some anatomy and biology knowledge!!

Labs to accident and emergency... aargh  I keep getting told to ask lots of questions when on placement but I don't want to get in folks way plus I don't know what to ask. I'm just putting the cart before the horse though, I'm sure all will become apparent.

I've been reading up on anatomy and physiology because I feel like I've forgotten loads.

I think we'll have a good few classroom sessions before we go on placement. That should point us in the right direction.

Don't worry bout the anatomy/physiology, we can all help each other out, after 4 years of learning pointless facts about bone and muscle names it'll finally come into use :-)

I have a place on MSc Adult Nursing commencing in September. Does anyone have a reading list of books we should be looking at before we commence. Looking forward to meeting everyone. Thanks.

Hi!

Did anyone manage to get a reading list at all?

Also, does anyone know when the occupational health checks will start taking place? Wasn't sure when they would start!

It's getting really close now... So excited!!!

I haven't gotten an official reading list, but I have had a look at their course descriptions and found these two foundation texts listed. Hope it helps!

Anatomy and Physiology in Health and Illness (Waugh and Grant)

Drug Calculations for Nurses: A Step By Step Approach (Lapham and Agar)

Does anyone know what happens if you miss the deadline for getting the PVG form back to the Uni? We're on our way back from holiday, staying at my in-laws for a few days and my Mum has come down too, bringing our mail. My PVG form is there requesting it is returned by 5th July and today is the 6th. I'm going to stress all weekend that I've lost my place. I've e-mailed but obviously can't do much on a Saturday. We only left home on the 28th June :frown:.

Hi, I'm going to apply through the clearing system for a place on the adult nursing masters course at Hamilton. Is anyone else travelling from Ayrshire??

I wouldn't worry about it. I submitted everything by the deadline, but my disclosure form hasn't been sent away because they still haven't processed by unconditional offer yet. That said, I am already a PVG member so it shouldn't take long, but I would've thought they would have processed all the unconditional offers by now for those of us who submitted the paperwork back in May.
