About MSc nursing studies

Hi! I’m doing Bsc biomed and want to do MSc nursing studies. But I’m confused if I can do it or not. As far as I know we need a NMC registration to practice as a nurse. As I don’t have it I didn’t BSc nursing. So can I go into nursing? And can I get the NMC pin through thjs MSc nursing studies degree? If not what to do

The NMC pin as a nurse requires a nursing degree and 2300 hrs of clinical practice and assessment. The only way to turn your degree into nursing is by applying for the 2 years course for graduates. then you can do the Msc in Advanced nursing practice supported by the trust where you work.

The course needs to be a pre-registration nursing degree, there are both undergrad and postgrad level courses for this. Check if the masters course you are looking at is a pre-reg one.

Thank you for sharing information. What if I take the course and later can I get apply for the Registration by myself or through any hospital while working as care assistant or anything?

Thank you for sharing information. This course is one year. I found 1/2 pre registration course which is in outside of London.

No, you need to do a course that is specifically pre-registration. These courses are benchmarked by the nursing and midwifery council (NMC) to ensure standards are maintained, if you want to be a registered nurse you will need to do one of these courses. The one year course you have found is likely a course for post registration nurses (admission criteria for this course may even include current NMC registration).

there are plenty of providers about that offer a post-grad level pre-reg nursing course, there’s bound to be several in London.

You’re welcome. I didn’t have time yesterday, but here’s some examples of the courses that lead to registration with the NMC at masters level in London:

https://www.uwl.ac.uk/course/postgraduate/nursing-adult-blended-learning-pre-registration

Have a look and see if any of these are what you are looking for

Thank you so much🙏
